In line with President Jonathan’s Power Transformation Agenda, the Federal Government announced plans yesterday to fully develop gas resources of 186trn standard cubic feet with the hope of making the commodity available for the power sector as well as other domestic industries.
gas-power-plant.jpgVice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, who inaugurated the National Council on Power, also revealed the plans are being given top priority and full attention. “It is expected, therefore, that in the next couple of months, substantial gas would be available to the power sector both through conventional means and by opening new opportunities for indigenous private gas developers,” Sambo said.
Sambo explained the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority is being capitalized under the Nigerian gas master plan to ”ensure it plays greater intervention role in gas development.”
President Jonathan has already achieved significant growth in the power sector and is leaving no stone unturned to keep Nigeria's power sector moving forward.
