UP GEJ: NDDC SET TO COMMISSION OVER 1,500 COMPLETED PROJECTS

No fewer than 1,500 projects executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, have been completed and ready for commissioning in the nine Niger Delta states of the region.

The NDDC Executive Director, Projects, Engr. Tuoyo Omatsuli, stated this in Owerri, Imo State, while inspecting the NDDC prototype university hostel project at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).

Expressing satisfaction with the pace at which the project was completed within 18 months, after several years’ delay, he said: “With the completion of this hostel, the number of our completed projects that are ready for commissioning has risen to over 1,500.”

Engr Omatsuli promised that NDDC will henceforth pay greater attention to the designs of its projects, adding that “We will also put more efforts into supervision and monitoring of our projects to ensure quality and timely delivery for the benefit of our people across the region.”

Inspecting the construction of the Imo State modern office in Owerri, Engr. Omatsuli, said plans are underway to expedite work on the state office projects and improve on the designs, taking into account the different terrains in the states. He noted that the Commission has invited the contractors handling the state office projects for a meeting. “We can assure you that in due course, we will be through with both the designs and construction of the state offices,” he said.

Also speaking during the inspection, the Imo State representative on the Governing Board of the NDDC, Hon. Uchegbu Chidiebere Kyrian, commended the work done at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri hostel. He said the Board is happy that the university hostel project has been completed.
